Description
If you go out in the woods today...
Don't.
You might get a nasty surprise.
Once upon a time, and not so long ago as that, the vast forests of Canada and the United States were filled with hordes of lumberjacks. The work was hard and dangerous, the living conditions primitive ... but that wasn't the worst of it.
There were things in the woods.
Not the usual menace of grizzly bear, timber wolf or mountain lion.
Something worse. Something much worse.

About the authors
Warren James is a Regina storyteller with a love of folklore, history and the fantastic. In 2008, he wrote his first book, The Return of the Fearsome Critters. The "Fearsome Critters" were mythological beasts said to hide in the lumberwoods and Warren wrote the book in part to ensure this rapidly disappearing folklore would be available to future generations. Warren lives in Regina with his wife, Dr. Anne Marie James, and is currently at work on a novel and another book of folklore.
Susan Hopkins McQuarrie is a freelance artist living among the "fearsome critters" of New BrunswickÂ?s forests. Susan specializes in creating hand-lettered and painted illuminated manuscripts. She is also an environmental and human rights activist.
