It contains classic discussions by Peirce, Saussure, and Langer, as well as more recent expositions by contemporary scholars such as Perron, Capozzi, and Merrell. This outstanding collection has been designed for the beginner in the field. It includes the editors' notes on the history and context of the essays, guidance for further activity and follow-up discussions by the reader, and an orientation to other important writing in the field.
