Description
"This is a fairly comprehensive visual dictionary for Spanish-speaking learners... I can easily see various subject teachers using sections to help recent arrivals cope." -- Library Media Connection
"Designed for young users... a good visual dictionary has a place on the ready-reference shelf." -- Booklist
With 12,000 words and 2,000 illustrations on more than 500 topics, The Firefly Spanish/English Junior Visual Dictionary shows what other bilingual dictionaries only describe. Topics range from an airport layout and the human circulatory system to hydroelectricity and the parts of a shoe, with every term connected to a detailed illustration labeled for easy identification. The gender of the Spanish word is shown to help the reader use it correctly.
This new edition has been thoroughly updated to include the newest and most relevant subjects, current terminology and up-to-date images. Introductory text opens each section, and there are both thematic and general indexes. The dictionary's 22 themes are color-coded for easy reference:
- Astronomy
- Geography
- Geology
- Meteorology
- Environment
- Vegetable kingdom
- Animal kingdom
- Human being
