Description

What is the common thread between a rock star, a former vice-presidential candidate, a competitive racecar driver, a hijacking victim, an All-Pro wide receiver, a falsely imprisoned man, a prisoner of war, and 25 other women and men? They all have persevered through significant adversity and now are sharing their amazing experiences and the wisdom they gained. Anyone who has encountered difficult times or enjoys inspirational stories will be drawn to Surviving Adversity because it contains thirty-two profiles of individuals who have faced different types of adversityâ ranging from addiction, overcoming sexism or racism, carrying on after the death of loved ones, succeeding despite physical handicaps, surviving financial hardship, to facing cancer and many other challenges. If you or someone you know is currently in the midst of a difficult time, then Surviving Adversity will provide perspective and hope.

About the author

Over the last fifteen years, Gord Carley has published weekly newspapers, directories and also worked as a publisher for the monthly magazine, Canadian Architect. Carley's own experiences of living through financial self-destruction led him to research how others overcame different challenges and to see if there was a common thread. The result is his first book, Surviving Adversity.
