Description
At mealtime, Victor embarks on an unexpected and unlikely adventure through the turbulent waters of his fish soup. Pelted by peas and carrots, he barely makes it to the island where there is a dark woodland of celery sticks. There he battles a ferocious pepper dragon. Victor overcomes the onslaught of the ingredients he dreads with the help of minor interventions by his mother. He finally flees into the castle of a wicked fairy. But the danger is not over. The wicked fairy threatens to force him to eat her vile-smelling and poisonous soup!
Setting out to save him, Victor's mother meets the same treacherous trails as her son, yet overcomes them in a particularly charming way. After his exciting adventure, Victor is hungrier than ever and his mother's fish soup turns out to be the best he's ever tasted.

Editorial Reviews
Sure to get some giggles.
Toronto Star
...another delectable concoction, amply displaying her fertile, transforming imagination, so visually and emotionally true in its representation of children's comic, scarily fanciful vision of the world. Levert, Mireille 's vibrantly-hued, Matisse-like illustrations are a scrumptious treat for the eye and imagination. All curves and contours, her warmly enveloping watercolours swirl with movement and mischievous invention.
