About the author
Nancy Elizabeth Hardy Mus Bac, ARCT, MRE, M.Div., Th.D.has had a lifetime of experiences serving The United Church of Canada. Following five years as a high school music teacher, she enrolled in theological studies and was commissioned a diaconal minister, serving the educational needs of a large congregation in the Maritimes. For 15 years, she was the United Church’s mission study editor, producing resources that brought global concerns to people of all ages; then as an ordained pastor, she ministered to churches in southern Ontario. She is a former editor of Gathering and co-chaired the committee responsible for the production of Voices United. In her retirement, Nancy returned to study at Emmanuel College in the Toronto School of Theology, earning a Th.D. (Doctor of Theology), which focused on congregational song and the mission of the Church, the connection “between singing and doing.” In 2013, she was awarded a McGeachy Scholarship, leading to her work on the Worship in the City project. Worship in the City combines Nancy’s love of music and her passion for liturgy that is grounded in the concerns and the context of contemporary worshippers. She lives in Toronto, a city she loves and chose for her retirement living.
