Description

Kelley Winslow is living her dream. Seventeen years old, she has moved to New York City and started work with a theatre company. Sure, she’s only an understudy for the Avalon Players, a third-tier repertory company so far off-Broadway it might as well be in Hoboken, but things are looking up—the lead has broken her ankle and Kelley’s about to step into the role of Titania the Faerie Queen in Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. But Faeries are far more real than Kelley thinks, and a chance encounter in Central Park with a handsome young man named Sonny Flannery plunges her into an adventure she could never have imagined. Sonny and Kelley find themselves drawn to each other—and into a terrible plot that could spell disaster for both New York and the Faerie realm alike.

Wondrous Strange

They are from two completely different worlds. Literally.

Sonny Flannery, currently residing in a penthouse overlooking Central Park, has not grown up as a normal child. Taken from his mother as an infant, Sonny is a changeling, a human raised in the land of Faerie by none other than Auberon the Winter King. Now he is beginning his career as a Janus Guard, one of the specially chosen changelings trained as elite protectors of the gates between the Otherworld and the world of humans. Their task is to keep ill-intentioned faerie folk from crossing into the mortal realm. As Sonny embarks on his first mission, he discovers unmistakable evidence of an evil plot brewing. He also finds Kelley.

Kelley is a 17-year-old aspiring actress. As she rehearses her role in A Midsummer Night’s Dream in Central Park, she is surprised when a handsome stranger appears with a small gift for her. When this same stranger keeps appearing, she becomes worried. However, Sonny and Kelley seem destined to be together, and as the mysterious and sinister events unfold, each becomes increasingly determined to protect the other. Furthermore, their feelings for each other become one more powerful tool to be wielded by the one who would do them harm.

This is a breathtaking story of magic and faerie mischief. Although set mainly in Manhattan, author Lesley Livingston weaves a captivating vision of the land of Faerie, one which slyly beckons readers from the very first page. She convincingly depicts our modern world as coexisting alongside this ancient, mystical, enchanted otherworld. The capriciousness of the faerie folk, the spiritedness of the fiery-natured Kelley, and Sonny’s honourable sense of justice and basic goodness, combine to make this an enthralling read, one that mesmerizes and enchants. Equal parts romance, mystery and fairy story, this book will leave readers spellbound.
