About the authors
Kim and her husband, Dale, live in Stilesville, a community just outside of Moncton, NB. Their small farm and maple ridge have been in his family for five generations dating back to the 1800s. She often writes about farm and family life topics in her blog www.farmwifewriting.wordpress.com. Her three children have now grown up, and Kim currently works as an Educational Assistant in the New Brunswick school system. She enjoys explaining the making of maple products to visitors who stop by their sugar bush in the spring time, especially the children. What-cha Doing was inspired by some of the questions that children often have.
Tamara Thiebaux Heikalo immigrated to Nova Scotia from the United States when she was twelve years old and has been drawing ever since she could hold a pencil. She has illustrated numerous children's books in including Mayann's Train Ride and Driftwood Dragons and Other Seaside Poems which were both shortlisted for the Lillian Shepherd Memorial Award for Excellence in Illustration. Most of the time she uses watercolour, with either pencil or ink in her illustrations. Some of her work is featured on her website at www.tamaraheikalo.wixsite.com/artist. Currently, she lives in rural Quebec with her husband, Daniel Heikalo.
