About the authors

Melissa Everett has worked in sustainable development for twelve years as a counselor and coach, educator, trainer, organizational consultant, author, fundraiser and CEO. The Executive Director of Sustainable Hudson Valley, she also teaches at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. She received her Ph.D. in 2006 from Erasmus University's Centre for Environmental Management and Sustainable Development in the Netherlands.

Mark Kummer is a professional illustrator living in New Jersey. He has worked in many areas of illustration and art, but always finds himself drawn back to children's books. Mark also makes appearances at schools and libraries, sharing his books and drawings with children. His favorite judges are his niece and nephew, Kara and Mitch.

Johannah Gilman Paiva grew up reading children's books to her eight siblings. Her career has taken her from the magazine publishing industry to authoring and editing children's books. She now lives in her hometown of Nashville, Tennessee, and gains inspiration from the adventures and antics of her husband, small children, and their family dog.
