Description

A beautifully illustrated story about leaving home, making friends, and being yourself.

On a bright morning, a young wolf brimming with curiosity and longing for companionship sets out from his pack in search of a friend. Yet, throughout the forest, he encounters nothing but fear and avoidance from other creatures who see him only as a typical wolf – greedy, frightening, and unpredictable. Even when he finds himself in peril after falling into the water, his cries for help go unanswered by his fellow animals. It's only when a small hand reaches out to rescue him – a child's hand – that the young wolf discovers a glimmer of hope and kindness in an unexpected friend.

About the authors

Morgane de Cadier, as a child and long before mastering the art of writing, would dictate stories of overly curious parrots and globe-trotting elephants to her mother. Since then, she has taken up the pen herself. In 2011, she enrolled in the Émile Cohl School in Lyon to study drawing. However, her passion for writing soon caught up with her, fuelled by the shelves of her childhood library brimming with works by Claude Ponti, Beatrix Potter, and Maurice Sendak. She marked her debut as an author with the publication of her first book, Tout là-haut, with HongFei editions. In 2019, her book Chut! (illustrated by Florian Pigé) was awarded the Prix des Incorruptibles (France), the first literary prize awarded by young readers from kindergarten to high school. She lives in Lyon, France.
