One day, as Amanda sits practicing her cello, a restless wind swoops inside her instrument. From that moment on, all sorts of unusual musical things occur as the wind directs Amanda’s music-making.

But then, Amanda begins to outgrow her little cello . . .

About the authors

Alison Lohans is an award-winning, internationally published author of many books for young people, most recently "River Rat" and "This Land We Call Home," which won the 2008 Saskatchewan Book Award for Young Adult Literature. She has also worked as a writing instructor and a music teacher, and served as Writer in Residence in addition to doing hundreds of author talks across Canada. Born and raised in central California, Alison immigrated to Canada during the Vietnam War years. She has two grown sons and gets great enjoyment from her passion for music, playing cornet, recorder and cello in several amateur groups in Regina, Saskatchewan.

Sarah Shortliffe is an artist, mother, and military wife born and raised in the Maritimes. She has been creating art since she was young and went on to get a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts and a Master’s degree in Art Conservation. Her goal is to transport the viewer to a fanciful and whimsical place. She wants to make the viewer smile and loves the bright colours she gets from watercolours.
