Jimmy Beaulieu is the founder of the publishing house mécanique générale and the author or editor of eight books in French. Suddenly Something Happened is his first book in English and collects the storylines from Quelques Pelures and Le Moral des Troupes (which won the 2005 Prix Espoir Québécois), with a new Epilogue to form the definitive edition of this autobiographical work. Jimmy ponders the difference between living in Quebec City and Montreal with its bohemian nightlife, reminisces about his childhood in a charmingly candid way, shares his frustrations and victories in art and in love, and expresses his philosophy on everything from racism to pop music and from masculinity to the Québécois identity. Told in richly rendered pencil lines in front of masterfully drawn backdrops portraying Quebec's urban and rural landscapes, these are the complete non-adventures of Jimmy Beaulieu, an easy going artist with an appreciation for the finer things in life--such as the balconies of Montreal in spring time and station wagons with fake wood paneling.

Jimmy Beaulieu was born on the Île d’Orléans, Québec, in 1974, he has lived in Montreal since 1998. He’s done pretty much all the work one can do surrounding comics. Publisher (mécanique générale), bookstore employee (Pantoute, Fichtre!), critic (Radio-Canada), expo manager, translator, book designer, magazine director, illustrator for hire, teacher (cégep du Vieux-Montreal) and, of course, author and artist. Back in the nineties, he made the hip kids dance on the music he composed with machines. Suddenly Something Happened, his first book in English, was published by Conundrum in 2010.
