Description
Can forgiveness be a creative way of breaking the cycle of bitterness, revenge, and violence? How do Christ’s life, passion, death, and resurrection help us understand that we are forgiven? These first-hand stories reflect the tremendous range of our experience of forgiveness: conflict in families and at work; events that remain private and that shake whole societies, from Canada to Ireland to Africa.
We read of struggles to be forgiven, to forgive another, to forgive oneself; struggles of faith and courage to carry on. The stories are powerful. There is such pain, such richness, such possibility for release and healing.
About the author
David Self is an Anglican priest. Born and raised in Toronto, he and his wife moved to Lesotho, one of the most economically challenged countries in the world and completely surrounded by South Africa, where he taught mathematics. Later, working in a variety of parishes and university and hospital chaplaincies in England, David developed a deep interest in contemplative prayer, in social issues, and in working with people on the fringe. Currently he is Team Rector of St. Paul's, a multi-racial, inner-city parish in Bristol, England.
