Find out why some hockey fans throw an octopus on the ice for good luck. How the hand of God might have decided a soccer game. How a dead guy got drafted ... all this and a lot more is immortalized in Sports Hall of Weird!

Editorial Reviews

[A] delightful package that will tweak that love of the strange that many young readers develop along with their fondness of sports. And as an added bonus, there's enough obscure material in here to keep adults highly amused as well.

Sports Hall of Weird

This 2005 title was also shortlisted for the Silver Birch Award in the nonfiction category. Written by CBC sports reporter and producer – and sometime art student – Kevin Sylvester, it is full of odd trivia, weird tales and bizarrely funny anecdotes about the world of sports. With cartoon illustrations by the author, it is absolutely appropriate for silly summer reading.
