Description
There’s nothing like a snow day!
Looking out their newly frosted windows one morning, two young brothers watch millions of pure white snowflakes floating down. Everything is covered in a thick blanket of snow. Will it be deep enough? Soon come the two magical words they’ve been waiting for: SNOW DAY!
They scramble into their coats and boots ― it’s time for hockey and tag and building a snow fort. Then, with stinging faces and frozen toes, they head home for a hot-chocolate break and drying out wet mittens. Toasty warm once again, they head back outside for more fun in the snow. When at last it’s time for sleep, they fall into bed exhausted.
Outside, the snow comes drifting down again . . . Will they awake to yet another snow day?
Werner Zimmermann’s playful text, coupled with beautifully crafted watercolour illustrations, captures all the excitement and wonder of a snow day.

Editorial Reviews
“Zimmermann’s lively illustrations capture the tingling blues and whites of a snowy day and the excitement of a playful romp through a wintry world.” (Snow Day) — Books in Canada
“[Zimmermann’s] paintings. . . lovingly depict the beauty of a thick snowfall on a small town. The frisky and affectionately portrayed animals also add a visual subtext of family fun, safety, and warmth.” (Snow Day) — Quill and Quire
“Snow Day joyfully describes the activities of a ‘no school’ day after a huge snowstorm. The illustrations fill every bit of each page, just as the snow covers everything in town. Zimmermann captures the exuberance of the children and dogs frolicking in the fluffy snow, the soft luminous grey of the sky during a daytime snowfall, the glow of the indoor lights spilling onto the slopes of an enormous snow fort. … A thoroughly enjoyable book.” (Snow Day) — Children’s Book News
