Description

Once evening paints the summer sky, shadows will come out to play. You must move fast, because as quickly as the wind blows, the shadows will be on their way.

Chasing after our hopes and dreams may take many tries before we finally catch them. This magical nighttime story shows that the journey is just as remarkable as the destination.

About the author

Elly MacKay creates tiny worlds from cut paper, ink and light, which she then photographs. Her work explores themes of nature, childhood and the imaginary. Elly’s work has been featured in international publications, including O: The Oprah Magazine, Chatelaine and Cosmopolitan. She grew up in a converted church in the countryside by Georgian Bay, Ontario. She now explores the same rivers, forests and beaches with her husband, Simon, and their two kids, Lily and Koen. Editorial Reviews

"Intriguing illustrations draw readers into a meditation on shadows...Playful and more than just a little mysterious—like a shadow-puppet play in full color."
--Kirkus Reviews

"Paper theatre, light-box illustration, illuminated papercraft - call it what you will, the images that Elly MacKay creates using paper, pen-and-ink figures, an open-sided 'theatre,' and the manipulation of light are stunning."
--Quill & Quire
