Description

Ròs Fiadhaich is a graphic novel entirely in Scottish Gaelic; it is the translation of the independent comic book series Wild Rose. Set in rural Ireland and London in 1790, Ròs Fiadhaich reimagines a haunting Irish folksong as a tale of love and revenge. When Eliza Day is seduced and betrayed by a wealthy English lover, she soon finds out that the restrictive society in which she lives has no place for defiant women who break with convention. With the help of Adam Stone, a free Black man, Eliza has a chance to make a new life for herself after the loss of her innocence – but to do so, she will have to be braver than she could ever have imagined. Mature themes.

Stèidhichte air dealbh-chùil Lunnainn agus na h-Èireann dùthchaile ann an 1790, tha Ròs Fiadhaich a’ dèanamh ath-shaoilsinn air sgeulachd Èireannach iargalta. ’S e a tha ann an sgeulachd Eliza Day ach sgeul a’ ghaoil agus an dìoghaltais, a’ chòmhstri-chlas, an neo-fhulangais chràbhaich, agus nam buidhnean dìomhair a dh’fhàs cumanta ann an Èirinn san ochdamh linn deug. Nuair a thèid Eliza a mhealladh agus a bhrathadh le leannan beartach Sasannach, geallaidh i a dhol an tòir air dìoghaltas agus lorgaidh i cuideachadh aig bhana-bhuidseach. Ach mar a gheibh i a-mach a dh’aithghearr, chan eil àite san t-sòisealtas chumhang anns a bheil i beò do bhoireannaich dhùbhlanach, bhrùite a bhriseas gnàthasan. Le cuideachadh Adam Stone, fear saor Dubh, tha teansa aig Eliza beatha ùr a thogail dhi fhèin às dèidh dhi a neoichiontachd a chall — ach gus siud a dhèanamh, bidh aice ri bhith nas gaisgeile na shaoil i riamh gum b’ urrainn.
