About the author
JOHN LIVINGSTON is professor emeritus in Environmental Studies at York University. He has been president of the Federation of Ontario Naturalists and the Canadian Audubon Society (now the Canadian Nature Federation), and was a founding trustee of the Nature Conservancy of Canada. He has pursued his interest in natural history on six continents. Livingston's previous books include: Canada: A Natural History, The Fallacy of Wildlife Conservation, Arctic Oil, and One Cosmic Instant.
