Description

A sweet story for little puddle jumpers, ages 4 and up.

It's raining! Time to walk your dog and jump in puddles! A rainy day can be such fun . . . but how do the birds, insects, and other animals feel about the rain? This lively story flows through how different animals find shelter from the rain and the splish splash sounds of raindrops. The playfulness of the author's writing style, the soothing illustrations and vibrant colors provide the backdrop to this lovely ode to rain.

Contributor Notes

Ellen DeLange has been fascinated by picture books ever since she was a child growing up in the Netherlands. In the attic of her home, she assembled a small library and shared her collection with friends and family. As an adult, she started traveling and expanded her library with picture books from all over the world. Ellen also enjoyed inventing her own stories and was encouraged by her daughter to write her first picture book, A Story with a Tale. Ellen has a doctorate in medical sciences and currently lives in Canada where she loves to walk in the woods with her Jack Russell terriers, drink lots of tea after a busy day, and sail on the ocean to clear her mind.

I like to constantly evolve as an artist and take art classes as often as possible.

Editorial Reviews

"Pitter, Patter, Goes the Rain is the cutest little book! I enjoyed the simple rhyme and the beautiful illustrations. I also loved that it teaches children to care about the little bugs. This book is recommended for ages four and up, but I read this with my three year old niece and she loved it, especially since it has been raining cats and dogs for days! I can't wait to add this precious book to our collection at the library!" - CCLS

"Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an e-arc in exchange for an honest review. This was really cute. A little lyrical with adorable illustrations. I can see this delighting kids for years to come. A timeless story and perfect to read in the spring." - NBC News Learn

"What I loved about this book is the use of onomatopoeia. The rhyming in the book could have been little better. But the best part of the book is that it teaches young kids to be kind and helpful to tiny creatures which are out in the open and also pushes them to be explorers. Best suited to toddlers and preschoolers. My 6 year old enjoyed it thoroughly. Thank you clavis publishing for this super book." - Our Reading Journey
