Description

Samantha Smart is the girl-next-door: student, captain of the soccer team, best friend — revolutionary!?

In a world eerily similar to our own where a close election leads to a torn nation, an average girl is thrust into the social-media spotlight, labeled a terrorist, and given the title: revolutionary. From highschool kid to rebel chief Samantha Smart leads the good fight against a government bent on total control in this fast-paced journey through a ripped social fabric. Her warning ... if it can happen to her, it can happen to anyone.

Editorial Reviews

"This Hunger Games-like entry will entice dystopian fans. The unsettling setting—a nation divided after the election of an alt-right puppet candidate named King—is fully prescient and points to 20th-century totalitarian regimes in Chile, Argentina, and Germany, as well as to the iconic Che Guevara. . . The exploration of humanity and self-preservation set this book apart. VERDICT This work has wide appeal."
School Library Journal

"(An) action-packed drama. . . Well-paced plotting will keep readers engaged. . . A troubling, gripping read."
Kirkus Reviews

"Dawn Green provides a powerful heroine. . . (The story) is suspenseful and well-developed. Samantha's story shows readers that the most unexpected moments and people can inspire hope and take on a power all their own if you have the courage to let them."
the National Reading Campaign

"This is a smart and engrossing story of the consequences of inaction and the power of revolution in a world gone awry. How Samantha Smart Became a Revolutionary is not just an action packed and politically charged thriller; it is a call for action in an unstable future. Resist!
Recommended."
