Description
On Vancouver Island a ghostly lady with a lamp lures a motorist to doom. On the Newfoundland icefield the spirit of a dead sealer saves his son from a fate like his own. Across the vastness of Canada many uncanny and uneasy presences inhabit the half-world between life and death, between the past and the present, haunting, threatening, terrifying, and sometimes bringing disaster and tragedy to the living.
From many sources, some traditional, soem tales told by friends and strangers encountered in his travels, Val Clery has shaped this powerful collection of stories about an aspect of life in Canada that only a few have experienced and that no one should wish to. Ghosts are no more constrained by time than they are by earthly space. The spirit of a Quebec witch pursues her vengeance against the living through the centuries. A baleful rag doll, from which there is no escape, wrecks and haunts the life of a young couple. A successful freeliving bachelor finds himself the captive of a seductive ghostly young woman.
Ghost Stories of Canada will thrill you and chill you late into the night. You will have to read them all and you will never forget them.
