Description

The Sufis are the mystics of Islam. Their poetry expresses the essence of religious belief. Until now little material has been available in English from the most radical of Sufis, the Melâmis. Sun'ullah Gaïbi was a spiritual master of early seventeenth century Turkey who belonged to the school of Melâmet, which means shamelessness or the path of blame. Melâmis were so named because they did not follow the established ways of worship. For them, there is no believing in God, there is only knowing God, which is synonymous with knowing one's self. Everything can be reached by full submission to love. Gaïbi gives expression to that knowledge and submission.
'God manifested in you Its completion and Its beauty,
You are the Art of the Divine, the Beauty of God is in you.
Murat Yagan was born into a Circassian family from the region of Abkhasia in the Caucasus Mountains. He received his first spiritual training from the Elders of his people when he was a child. In his twenties he studied in a Bektashi tekke in Istanbul. In 1963 he immigrated to Canada and lived there until he passed on in 2013.
