Description

Ga Ting is a powerful and emotionally charged story about an immigrant Chinese couple trying to come to terms with the death of their son Kevin. When they invite Kevin's Caucasian boyfriend for dinner after the funeral, the evening devolves into a fiery cultural and generational clash.

About the author

Minh Ly is a Canadian actor/writer based out of Toronto, ON. He trained at Studio 58, an acting conservatory in Vancouver, BC. Since graduating from his alma mater, Minh has worked extensively in film/TV and theatre. As a playwright, Minh has presented his solo show, White, Another F#$king Identity Piece! at BC Buds, a new works festival at the Firehall Theatre in Vancouver.

Ga Ting is his first professionally produced full-length play. It premiered in 2014, co-produced by frank Theatre and VACT in Richmond, BC. In 2016 it had a second mounting produced by frank Theatre, and presented by The Cultch in Vancouver, BC; both productions garnered sold-out houses.
