Description
When the animals from the zoo escape into the city, they quickly realize that they are hopelessly lost. Gradually each of the ten animals make their way to the "Downtown Lost & Found" to get help. The kindly proprietor squeezes them into the increasingly crowded waiting room until the zookeeper finally arrives to collect them.
Designed to be read by very early readers, Downtown Lost & Found combines bright simple illustrations with a carefully constructed text that offers youngsters the tools they need to decipher the words. Rhythm, repetition, predictability, number patterns and closely linked pictures give children the chance to become independent readers for the first time. Best of all, the story ends with a bang.
Since its first printing in 1997, Downtown Lost & Found has become a staple of youngsters' bedside bookcases - and the libraries of preschool and primary grade teachers across North America.
