Description
Women are expected to embrace the beautiful gift of becoming a Mommy. Giving birth, nourishing our young - these things are the fulfillment of a life's ambition.
You'll be spoken of in the same breath as patriotism and apple pie. There you'll be: on a pedestal, admired, happy. All you have to do is be a Good Mommy.
Alas, that is a lie. That creature: a figment of our imaginations. The truth is, you will fail. The truth is, we all fail.
Bad Mommy celebrates the parenting line between Joan Crawford and June Cleaver. Chances are, you already know the things you don't do right, but what about everyone else?
Wonder no longer, you are not alone. If you possess two X chromosomes and have ever contemplated joining the ranks of Mommy, you are, in fact, part of a secret sisterhood. For the first time ever, twenty of your comrades will peel back the veil of denial to confess their fears, shame and dirty little secret--every last one of us is a Bad Mommy.
About the author
Willow Yamauchi is a Vancouver-based writer and artist. A self proclaimed Bad Mommy, Willow believes women need to stop lying to themselves and to others about the Mommy experience-only the truth shall set us free.
Willow parents two children with her husband, Ron. Despite everything, they appear to have survived most of their childhood.

Bad Mommy
BadMaria Bailey wrote:Just finished Willow Yamauchi'S Bad Mommy book...for those who want in on some dirty little secrets or who need to learn how to let yourself off the hook with this refreshingly honest, hilarious- good- for-your-mental-health read to take yourself a little lighter, and to forgive yourself for wherever you are in the spectum of mother issues - "no matter what your choices are you will be a bad mommy, so just relax" and yes I own a label maker and I am ok with that! Willow uncovers the motherhood viel to the sometimes unspeakable judgements we have of mothers and ourselves. The book reminds me that society has such a tiny margin of error with motherhood dispite our best intentions and complete sacrifices. My favourite line, "breast feeding for the first time is like two teenage virgins in the back seat of the car the first time, painful and embarassing." Sure to enjoy this mothers day gift to yourself and join the converted bad mommy club - and face it we have to be a little bad to be trully good!
