Description

This bibliography has been compiled to aid Smollett scholars locate the numerous books, doctoral dissertations, articles, and notes written about Smollett in recent years. The year 1946 was taken as a starting point because this bibliography is intended to supplement Francesco Cordasco's Smollett Criticism, 1925-1945: A Compilation (Brooklyn, 1947). All items thought to be of interest to Smollett scholars have been cited.

About the author

Donald M. Korte (1933-2007) was a professor of English at the University of Guelph until 1979. His love of history then led him to the research and study of 18th and early 19th century North American antiques and artifacts. He travelled extensively throughout New England, the Maritimes, Quebec and Ontario in pursuit of antiques and adventure.
