Description

This second edition of Oxford's popular one-volume Anthology of Canadian Literature in English provides the essential texts for students. Balancing the canon as it has traditionally been presented with the broader perspectives that have emerged in recent years, it highlights the connectionsbetween various texts, setting tradition and innovation in dialogue.

Editorial Reviews

"Although the word 'canon' doesn't appear in the title, it's implicitly representative of canonical writing. Yet in its pages we find avant-garde writers... It's a useful reminder of how quickly things change and how soon the progressive becomes accepted." The Vancouver Sun

"A... goldmine that is a must for all serious students of Canadian literature... From Samuel Hearne's journals to the lyrics of Leonard Cohen's 'Closing Time,' it's all here. A great addition to any serious library this side of the 49th." Encore

"Twenty years after the original anthology... the editors have given us a reconsideration of Canadian literature in English at the beginning of the 21st century... This... volume... is designed for students, but the wealth of literature, from writings of settlers to notable writers of ourtime, make it an attractive introduction to the lay reader."
