Description

Olive is devastated when she overhears a kid at school making fun of her for wanting to raise a calf for the 4-H calf competition. They think she can't possibly do it because she has cerebral palsy. But, with the love and support from her family and friends, Olive develops a strong bond with a Jersey calf and draws on her problem-solving skills to get her calf ready for the fall competition.

About the author

Cheryl Dawn Buchan has been writing stories since she was a small child growing up in Quispamsis, NB, and A Calf for Olive is her first book. The book was inspired by a young woman she met driving an accessible bus. She has also served as a Beaver and Scout leader, T-ball and softball coach, search and rescue volunteer, Sunday school teacher, and dog trainer. She continues to live in Quispamsis, and she enjoys introducing visitors to the Saint John area on ship shore excursions when the cruise ships are in port.
