2023 Shaughnessy Cohen Prize Shortlist
On March 29, the Writers' Trust announced the five books nominated for the $25,000 Shaughnessy Cohen Prize for Political Writing, awarded annually for a work of literary nonfiction that captures a political subject relevant to Canadian readers and has the potential to shape or influence thinking on Canadian political life. The Shaughnessy Cohen Prize is sponsored by CN, and the winner will be announced on May 10 at the annual Politics and the Pen gala in Ottawa. Finalists were selected by a jury composed of political science professor Terri E. Givens, Canadian pollster and data scientist Nik Nanos, and past prize finalist Jacques Poitras. The jurors read 48 books submitted by 28 publishers. Discover the 2023 Shaughnessy Cohen Prize shortlist below and at writerstrust.com/ShaughnessyCohen
