To officially launch the 21st annual National Poetry Month in Canada, The League of Canadian Poets is thrilled to announce the 2019 Book Awards Longlists, including the Gerald Lampert Memorial Award, the Pat Lowther Memorial Award, and the Raymond Souster Award. “We’re very excited to share longlists for each of our Book Awards again this year,” says Lesley Fletcher, Executive Director of the League of Canadian Poets. “We receive so many incredible submissions each year and our longlists give us the opportunity to share more outstanding poetry with our community.” Congratulations to all of the nominated poets and their publishers. Many thanks to the jurors for their dedication to this year’s awards. The shortlists for all categories will be revealed on Tuesday, April 23rd, 2019. Winners, including that of the 2019 Sheri-D Wilson Golden Beret Award for Spoken Word, will be announced at the annual Awards Ceremony, taking place in St. John’s, Newfoundland, on June 8, 2019.
