2015 Toronto Book Awards Shortlist
The 2015 Toronto Book Awards will be presented at the Toronto Reference Library's Bram & Bluma Appel Salon October 15 at 7 pm (pre-show cocktail reception at 6 pm). Tickets are free but must be reserved in advance. CBC's Gill Deacon hosts the show. Toronto Book Awards finalists read at Word on the Street, September 27 and again at North York Central Library (5120 Yonge Street), October 8 at 7 pm -- both events are free. NOTE: Author Lynn Crosbie will read for Margaret Atwood and editor Jennifer Lambert will read for Emily St. John Mandel. Established by Toronto City Council in 1974, the Toronto Book Awards honour authors of books of literary or artistic merit that are evocative of Toronto. The annual awards offer $15,000 in prize money. Each finalist receives $1,000 and the winning author receives the remaining prize money. This year marks the 41st anniversary of the Toronto Book Awards.
