James Quandt

James Quandt is the senior programmer at TIFF Cinematheque (née Cinematheque Ontario), where over the last two decades he has organized international travelling retrospectives dedicated to the work of Robert Bresson, Kenji Mizoguchi, Kon Ichikawa, Mikio Naruse, Nagisa Oshima, and Shohei Imamura, and has edited books about Bresson, Imamura, Ichikawa, and, most recently, Apichatpong Weerasethakul. He has published widely and is a regular contributor to ArtForum International Magazine. His honours include the Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres from the French government for contributions to French cinema and the Special Prize for Arts and Culture from the Japan Foundation for his outstanding contribution to international cultural exchange and mutual understanding between Japan and other countries.
