David Poulsen

David A. Poulsen was born in Calgary and is a graduate of the Universities of Calgary and Saskatchewan. Since winning the Alberta Culture Short Story Writing competition in 1984 with his story The Welcomin’, David has been a prolific producer of stories, plays and novels for adults and young adults alike. David is also a former professional rodeo competitor and rodeo clown, and is a regular guest television commentator with credits that include CTV’s Wide World of Sports and TSN television sports. He has appeared in the Black Stallion television series and the MGM/HBO TV movie Convict Cowboy. David’s other novels for young adults include The Cowboy Kid, Ride for the Crown, Ride the High Country and Blind Date. Billy and the Bearman was his first novel for Napoleon Publishing. David lives in Claresholm, Alberta.
