Karen Piffko was born in Kamloops, BC, in 1942, where her parents worked at the Harper Ranch. Karen grew up in Williams Lake, BC, and after a spell in Ontario returned to BC, eventually settling on a hay farm at Big Lake in 1976 with her husband, George. Besides working on the farm, Karen served on the board of the Big Lake Community Association for several years. After 20 years of farming she retired and has been working as a freelance writer and photographer for the Williams Lake Tribune. Karen’s hobbies include travelling, kayaking, hiking and cross-country skiing.
