John Perret was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. He attended the University of Saskatchewan earning a Bachelor of Education degree, majoring in art. After graduation he was hired as a high school teacher for art and photography, and has been teaching ever since. He has won the Saskatchewan Professional Photographers Association award for photography in the Scenic and Digital category and the prestigious FUJI award, given to photographers who have created the very best photography in Canada.
