Gordon Pengilly

Gordon Pengilly was raised on a farm near Lethbridge, Alberta, and currently lives in Calgary. He earned a BA in Drama and an MFA in Playwriting from the University of Alberta, being the first graduate from that program. A versatile writer, Pengilly has written more than fifty plays for television, film, radio, and stage.Pengilly’s awards include the Writers Guild of Canada Jim Burt Screenwriting Prize for Drumheller or Dangerous Times, the BBC International Radio Drama Prize for Seeing in the Dark, and several Alberta Playwriting Competition first place prizes for Metastasis, They Don’t Call Them Farmers Anymore, and The Whole Distance. His plays have been produced in New York, Philadelphia, Japan, Los Angeles, the United Kingdom, and across Canada. His newest play, Flesh and Ghost, is currently being developed by Theatre Calgary.
