About

Tony Nickel

Tony Nickel was born on January 5, 1932 on a farm just north of Waldeck, Saskatchewan. His early years were all spent in rural Saskatchewan. After graduating from Herbert High School, Tony enrolled in the Moose Jaw Normal School and started his teaching career in 1951. He later completed BEd, MEd and PhD degrees. He is currently retired from the University of Regina as professor emeritus, but continues to keep his hand in on a part-time basis.

As a family, and later as a retired couple, they have been able to visit many countries in Europe, Southeast Asia and Central America. These travel experiences have been part of shaping their theological beliefs related to peace, restorative justice and non-violence. Values, beliefs and church have played an important role in Tony's life since childhood. He and Polly continue to be active in Grace Mennonite Church, Regina Saskatchewan.
