D.A. Holley

Donald Alexander ("Doc") Holley travelled by horse, train, plane and dogsled through the Arctic, the Cariboo, the prairies, New York City and Montreal as he trained to become a surgeon. He served his home community of Quesnel, BC, as a surgeon from 1957 until his retirement and enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding the range. Doc created B.C.`s first intensive care unit at the G.R. Baker Memorial Hospital in Quesnel. In 1981, he became the president of the B.C. Surgical Society. He retired in the late 1980s and then started a new career as an actor in Barkerville, playing a teamster named Snodgrass and a town doctor by the name of Dr. Bell. Doc passed away on October 5, 2000.
