It`s hard to find Joanne Elves at home, as she`s often exploring her larger "home" with her two children, and sometimes her husband if he`s available. From climbing rocks to canoeing to backcountry trekking or just back road exploring, if it`s in Southern Alberta she`s likely been there. After her family her passions are travelling, writing and running marathons, in no particular order. Most of her travel stories are about Southern Alberta, but her writing also ranges in location from Hong Kong to Cape Cod. Joanne has run marathons from Hawaii to Boston. Her stories typically have a strong natural history and natural science perspective, with a dash of humour. Joanne`s education includes a B.Sc. in Physical Geography from University of Calgary. Joanne has lived her entire life in Southern Alberta and now calls Calgary home.
