About

David Carr

When David Carr came to campus in the fall of 2013, he sat with a group of journalism students and, in about ten minutes, explained what has happened to legacy media, where new media is now, and where it may be in the future. He was funny, blunt, irreverent, and smart. That's what makes him the most influential writer on the media in the world. Today, the veteran reporter writes the Media Equation column for the New York Times, and also reports on popular culture. His book, The Night of the Gun, is a memoir of addiction and recovery. He is an old school reporter who knows he's onto a big story and isn't letting go.
