Description
You Might Be From Alberta If . . . is a delightful, illustrated romp through the Wild Rose Province. From one of the most celebrated cartoonists in the province, Dave Elston delivers his unique take on this extraordinary place, tickling the funny bone on every page. As Elston proves, this is a province that is proud of what it is, and likes nothing better than a good laugh.
About the authors
A lifelong Albertan, Dave Elston was Canada’s only full-time editorial sports cartoonist for 13 years. He is a singular talent and his work is decidedly Albertan. He is a breath of fresh air in a landscape littered with political commentary.
Paul Brandt is the most awarded male Canadian Country Music artist in history. His is a compelling story of humble beginnings and big dreams, fame, and stardom. Ever since his million-selling debut album “Calm Before The Storm”, Paul Brandt’s artistry and music have captured the hearts and minds of music fans the world over.
His rise from local Calgary honky-tonks and talent contests to the world stage is legendary. While working a day-job as an RN at the Alberta Children’s Hospital, he signed a record deal with Warner/Reprise Records Nashville at the age of 21. He went on to conquer the US & Canadian charts, tour internationally, and have a song he’d written recorded by Dave Matthews and Johnny Cash. He’s played in places as remote as sub-Saharan Africa and South-East Asia, entertaining audiences ranging from human trafficking victims and the homeless, to senators, prime ministers, and British royalty.
Editorial Reviews
SICK SIXTH SENSE
"As someone who lived in Alberta for 17 years and who had the privilege of working with Dave at the Calgary Sun for a decade, he always delivered … a nice sick sixth sense of humor. This one just adds to his legacy. Well done, Dwarfus!"
— Bill Davidson, former Sport Editor, Calgary Sun

SALUTE
"I've been a fan of Dave Elston's for years, from his disheveled, scrunched-up hockey players, to his eccentric yet oddly endearing horses (ever notice how Elston's horses always look more intelligent than his hockey players?). As an Albertan, born and bred, I salute him for tackling the land of the prairie oyster and the Chinook headaches. Well done! (And for the record, page 72 That's absolutely true. I swear.)"
