When 12-year-old Teddy makes a plan to sneak away from the Remembrance Day ceremony, little does he know where his scheme will take him!
Teddy really doesn't want to go to the boring Remembrance Day ceremony, especially when the comics store is hosting the biggest War Games competition that has ever come to town on the very same day. But the day before the competition an old veteran gives him a special poppy that transports him to the trenches of World War I.
The weirdness (as Teddy calls it) continues and he finds himself aboard a World War II naval vessel and then an air force bomber. As the tension builds in each situation, Teddy experiences the camaraderie, fear, danger and devastation of life in a war zone. Teddy learns more about the lives of the people who fought in wars and he encounters his own ancestors who unknowingly help him to survive. When his journey finally ends, he has a new found respect for the veterans honoured on Remembrance Day.

About the author

Ed Butts loved history and adventure stories as a kid, and started writing short stories, articles, and poetry in his teens. On the rare occasions when a magazine published his work, he was overjoyed, especially when they sent him a cheque for ten dollars. Since then Ed has written books about explorers, adventurers, criminals, hidden treasure, disasters, mysteries, and daring women. He has also worked at many other jobs, including teaching at a school in the Dominican Republic for eight years. Ed lives in Guelph, Ontario, with his daughter and six-year-old grandson.
