Description

In 1979 Leonard Cohen set off on his Field Commander Cohen world tour and Harry Rasky accompanied him. Rasky documented that tour in his widely broadcast and distributed film, The Song of Leonard Cohen. It was a wild tour - from soaking in a Jacuzzi with Cohen, drinking wine and discussing the meaning of life, to the two running away from armed police in Germany suspected of being Bader-Meinhof terrorists and more. This is the full story of that tour and a very rare insight into Leonard Cohen the poet, musician and man. Rarely does Cohen reveal himself, his background, his reflections on his poetry and music, the influences that define his own mythology. Yet, through the unique friendship stuck between Cohen and Rasky, the film and now this book, a very rare portrait of Leonard Cohen emerges. The volume includes many rare photos of Leonard Cohen in Montreal and includes extensive commentary by Cohen on his own poetry and songs. No other book about Cohen gets so close to Leonard Cohen as The Song of Leonard Cohen.
