Contributor Notes
Angela Jeffreys was born in the UK and moved to Canada as an infant. As her family moved around a lot, she was always the new kid - with glasses, so she was teased a lot. As a result, she became a loner. Books and her imagination became her best friends. She read voraciously and imagined all sorts of adventures. When she was a teenager, she wrote stories for English class assignments and for fun. Reading, writing, hiking and rock hounding were her teen passions. When she became an adult, she did what every adult does…she got a job. She worked in an office, in the insurance industry for 20 years. Her authentic self finally came out in 2004 when she started her own business teaching others to become their own authentic self. Angela became a mom and read to her daughter every day since she was days old. When her daughter was five-years-old, she asked her mom to make up a story instead of reading a book, and The Purple Frog was born.
In the spring of 2018, Angela launched Wheel of Life, a lifestyle magazine, with a spiritual twist, that covers all areas of life with motivating and inspiring stories of real people.
Editorial Reviews
As an educator, I see many class discussions and writing prompts coming from reading The Purple Frog to my class. Our students are bombarded every day in the media and at school the need to conform and to fit in especially in their appearance. Few understand everyone is unique and awesome which is just one of the valuable lessons in this book. Readers will also see that change is ok. Our students go through many changes in the early grades and on into Junior and Senior High Schools. This story will come back to mind and reassure them that change is part of the journey, and it’s ok. Educators spend a great deal of time discussing bullying and teasing. This book also helps us see the effects of these issues. But one of the most important topics that comes through in this book is that what we look like on the outside is not important. It changes as we move through life. What is on the inside is special, wonderful, and what is really of value. This heartwarming book is inspiring and a very helpful addition to any home or classroom’s library.
