The Lions are Leaping! is the story of Gwenny’s day at the zoo with her daddy and the marvelous adventure they have.

Through Gwenny’s eyes the reader gets whisked away watching the animals be extraordinary as they dance, jump rope, and leap about.

With rhymes that carry you along, and illustrations that make your imagination roar, Gwenny’s zoo adventure is a fun tale for every child who sees the everyday as anything but ordinary.

About the author

Contributor Notes

Kelly Bontje recently relocated to the beautiful city of Nanaimo, after finding herself displaced by an apartment fire at Parksville’s Oceanside Terrace Apartments in July of 2017.

In need of routine during such a tumultuous time, Kelly took on the challenge of writing.

“Writing became sort of a safe place to land after a day of work.”

When she isn’t busy working at Tigh-Na-Mara resort you can find her enjoying the West Coasts scenic outdoors, cozying up with her cat, or working on an artistic project.

Editorial Reviews

"This book really stands out with the use of creative animal imagery and bright colours. It's enough to grab your attention and keep it as the storyline speaks wonders to the fascination of children's imagination. It is so stimulating; the authour clearly sees the world through a unique and wondrous lens. I also love that it focuses on the father/daughter relationship - so refreshing! I will be getting a copy for all of my teacher friends to share." - Lydia (Amazon.ca)

"We purchased this when we were away on vacation. Such a treat - a lovely book with wonderful illustrations. As soon as we finished the book my daughter said “again!”" - Margaret S.Burrows (Amazon.ca)
