Description
The Goodfellow Chronicles Book Two:The Messengers is the follow-up novel to The Sacred Seal, nominated for the 2003 Red Maple Award. Having made the decision to forego being a Gifted One and continue helping the Goodfellows, Sam is looking forward to a peaceful summer vacation—until he receives a letter telling him that Jolly Goodfellow and Edgar have disappeared. Realizing that Jolly’s Secret Scroll has something to do with England’s mysterious crop circles, and that Jolly and Edgar have probably disappeared in the crop circle vicinity, Sam dedicates his summer to searching for his friends. But Sam isn’t alone. The evil Professor Mandrake is also searching, and he, too, has a Secret Scroll. As the search for the missing Goodfellows ranges from England to the United States, and Sam and Mandrake battle for possession of the scrolls, the reader discovers the history of these special documents, and their importance to mankind. The Messengers is the second book in a trilogy that chronicles the adventures and “careers” of a special group of people: The Goodfellow family, who are members of the Sage. The Sage provide unseen inspiration to humans in pursuit of creative genius and scientific advancement. Disguised as mice so that they can move about freely in the world, the Sage are assigned “cases,” humans to whom they are to whisper words of encouragement.(February 2003)
