Editorial Reviews

A perfect preschool read-aloud, this combines a rhythmic text with folksy pictures well executed in soft pastels.

The food chain described - farmer, seed, corn, hen, egg, etc. - begs to be read aloud. And what about Mack, who ate the cake? He provides a surprise ending that will delight audiences, for Mack is the farmer’s large, playful dog. A welcome addition to picture book collections.
