Description
Was she Isobel or was she the Storm Child? How could she decide? Who would give her the answer?
Isobel is the daughter of a Scottish father and a Peigan Indian mother and her heart is pulled in two directions. Hating her father for returning to Scotland rather than coming home to Fort Edmonton, Isobel decides to go and live with her Peigan grandparents in their Indian Camp. But later, she begins to realize that it is not so easy to turn her back on the European part of her life. What about her friend Henry? And what about getting an education?
Isobel's search for a solution to her dilemma takes her across the west into a series of exciting and dangerous adventures. With the Crees out to avenge the death of a son and the fur traders ready to attack the Peigans, Isobel is in the centre of lots of action.
Against the vast panorama of life in the West in the 1830s, Isobel begins to realize the truth about who she is. She is part of something new, she must listen to her heart...and learn to take the best from both worlds.
