Small-scale models and intaglio prints picturing invented urban locations remind us how very connected we are to the buildings and infrastructures that surround us.Over the past 30 years, American-born Canadian artist Steve Higgins, has worked at the intersection of sculpture, architecture and the urban environment with large-scale temporary projects. All Things Considered - Thoughts about Cities and History, War and Peace was published to document a cross-country tour and inlcudes an essay from each participating gallery. The monograph was published with Dalhousie Art Gallery, Kelowna Art Gallery and the McMaster Museum of Art. Essays by Ihor Holubizky, Liz Wylie, Peter Dykhuis and Jeanne Randolph.
About the authors
Ihor Holubizky is an art historian and curator. He has held several public gallery curatorial positions, including curator at The Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery, Toronto, and the Art Gallery of Hamilton and has been guest curator for retrospective exhibitions of Don Jean-Louis, Walter Tandy Murch, and Kazao Nakamura at The Robert McLaughlin Gallery, Oshawa. Holubizky holds a PhD in art history from the University of Queensland, Australia, and has contributed writing to numerous publications on historical, modern, and contemporary topics in art and culture in North America, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. He lectures on a wide range of topics across Canada, the United States, Brazil, and Australia.
Liz Wylie is curator of the Kelowna Art Gallery in Kelowna, BC.
Jeanne Randolph is one of Canada's foremost cultural theorists. She is the author of the influential book Psychoanalysis & Synchronized Swimming (1991) as well as Symbolization and Its Discontents (1997), Why Stoics Box (2003), and Ethics of Luxury (2007). A practicing psychoanalyst, Dr. Randolph is also known as an engaging lecturer and performance artist. She has spoken on topics ranging from the aesthetics of Barbie to the philosophy of Wittgenstein in universities and galleries across Canada, England, Australia, and Spain.
