Description
Though Slim, the Guide is dressed in western lore, it is a book about the human condition. It will appeal to everyone who enjoys a well-told story and who can hear the voices of their ancestors whispering from the glow of a campfire.
In these simple and unpretentious tales, Monty Bassett has captured the voices of three generations of men and women: Slim, the cowboy and wilderness guide, his wife and partner Ethel, their son Casey and Casey's son Buddy. Their lives mirror the evolution of the western frontier from horses to helicopters, bronc-riders to bureaucrats.
This is a new release of the book published in September 1993.
About the author
Monty Bassett was born in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and has been a journalist in Central and South America, a mountain guide, a ski instructor, a rodeo clown and a college instructor. He currently divides his time between his ranch in northern British Columbia and a tiny island in the Caribbean.
